Carmen Tempranillo

del Rios Carmen Tempranillo is sourced from the Martinelli Vineyard in the King Valley, where the cool climate is perfect for this Spanish variety. The soils are well drained red brown clay.
The fruit is processed at Rutherglen, where it is destemmed and crushed into open tanks. After wild yeast fermentation and malolactic fermentation, it is transported to the del Rios winery at Anakie near Geelong.
The wine is transferred to new and seasoned French oak barrels for maturation. After racking, it is blended into a stainless steel tank prior to bottling.
Deep crimson, del Rios Carmen Tempranillo has a concentrated fruit core and moderate savoury tannins. A bolder style of Tempranillo. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
